DANCE WITH MY FATHER

shock graduated to awkwardness, and then to familiarity.

i bumped into my father at a seminar i attended this evening.

when i saw him, i didn't know how to respond.

but work instincts took over and i just waved hi and went about my chores.

of course, when i was done with work, i went to chat him up.

the new colleague said i look like my dad.

i remember my relatives saying how i looked exactly like him when i was born.

according to my mom, i have the same temperament as him too.

i'm as stubborn as the guy...and that makes our disagreements practically unresolvable without a mediator.

but now that i've taken that relationship out of the house, our exchanges have taken on a whole new meaning.

strange as it may seem, things are actually getting better.

in a recent terrifying incident, the one person i thought of calling was him.

because it sure felt like only he would swoop by and save me without question.

imagine...how strained relations were at one time, yet he remains the one person my thoughts ran to in the carpark that night.
